Project Summary
Energicotel, a local private energy development firm, sought ALFS’s expertise to raise capital through an innovative financial instrument: a debt bond issuance. We successfully helped Energicotel raise more than RWF 6 Billion through the issuance of a long-term fixed-rate corporate bond, making it the first local Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) to debut on the Rwanda Stock Exchange. This landmark event set a precedent for other local SMEs, demonstrating that raising capital through the stock exchange is a viable alternative to traditional bank loans. The listing also brought Energicotel into the spotlight, allowing it to tap into a broader investor base while reducing its reliance on debt financing. The success of this project highlights ALFS’s ability to facilitate groundbreaking financial strategies and open up new pathways for business growth in Rwanda.
